Dr. Coopwood was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Austin, Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986 and graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1990 with a degree in Medicine. Dr. Coopwood was chosen as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society during medical school. He completed his general surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1995. After residency, he moved to Austin and practiced general and trauma/acute care surgery. Dr. Coopwood is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is currently a Surgical Critical Care Fellow at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, with an expected completion date of August, 2013, and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Trauma & Emergency Surgery at UTHSCSA.

Dr. Muir received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin; completed a year-long Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical School at Dallas between third and fourth years of medical school.

Susannah Nicholson is a General Surgery Resident working in Dr. Robert Johnson's laboratory in the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Division of the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Nicholson completed her medical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2005. Dr. Nicholson recently started her research rotation working with Dr. Robert Johnson identifying pathophysiological roles for endogenous carbon monoxide during trauma.

Dr. Becker grew up in Missouri where he attended the accelerated combined undergraduate/medical school program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He entered into active duty in the Army upon graduation in 2001 and completed a general surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, in 2007. Dr. Becker is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has served as a staff general surgeon and Chief of General Surgery at Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia. He has served two tours in Afghanistan as a trauma surgeon assigned to forward surgical teams. He is currently a Surgical Critical Care Fellow assigned to the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.
