2010, Research Assistant, co-author. Research involving recombinant activated factor VII administration to coagulopathic neurotrauma patients; article submitted for publication to the Journal of Trauma. Faculty Advisor: Carlos V.R. Brown, MD, Trauma Medical Director, UT Southwestern-Austin Program.
2007, Research Lab Technician; Principal investigator Hui Zou, PhD, UT Southwestern Dept of Molecular Biology. Conducted many PCRs, maintained frog tanks, and performed a number of other molecular studies.
2006, Research Assistant, Research in Spinal Muscular Atrophy with knockout mice as the model organism; performed PCR, motor endplate counts/analysis and microdissections. Faculty Advisor: Wesley Thompson PhD, UT Austin, Department of Neurobiology.
2005-2006, Research Assistant; research in signal integration and cognition with rhesus monkeys as the model organism. Worked with the monkeys on a weekly basis to train them to make decisions based on visual prompts from a monitor. As they were making decisions, signal output in the form of local potentials was recorded at various brain nuclei allowing for assessment of cognitive patterns from progressive locales along the signal integration pathway. John Admire grew up in Denton, Texas. He attended UT- Austin for his undergraduate degree in Biology. John attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, completing his degree in 2011. John is interested in surgical trauma and critical care and plans to pursue a fellowship in this area after the completion of residency at UTHSC San Antonio.
