Biosketch: Dr. Mejia is native of Panama, but moved to Guadalajara, Mexico in 1998 for Medical School. As a part of the six-year medical school program, he completed a sub-internship with the William J. Harrington Program at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami during his fifth year and then conducted clinical research with the Department of Trauma Surgery at UTHSCSA during his sixth year. He is currently completing his chief year of General Surgery at UTHSCSA. In July 2010, he will be starting a two-year fellowship in Multi-Organ Abdominal Transplant Surgery with the University of Pittsburgh (UPMC) to fulfill his professional interests in Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery.
