It is my distinct pleasure to announce that the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio has recently approved a 3-year Emergency Medicine Residency Program. We are extremely excited to welcome and begin training our first class of residents, anticipated to begin in 2013.

Our Emergency Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to providing an excellent educational environmentwhich will prepare our graduates to enter the career pathway of their choice e.g. clinical, academic, fellowship, administrative, as well as pass the ABEM certification examinations on their first attempt.

The University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio and the University Hospital System is an internationally prominent center of educational innovation and medical training. It is an ideal environment for the interchange of ideas and multidisciplinary professional growth. Our primary training facility, University Hospital, provides an extremely diverse patient population. University Hospital in San Antonio is a Level I trauma center and serves as the preferred tertiary care referral hospital for South Texas. Together, the UT School of Medicine and University Hospital offers our Emergency Medicine residents the unique and tremendous opportunity to train in a combined University/County Hospital environment.

Our Emergency Medicine Residency Program provides a comprehensive Emergency Medicine curriculum and clinical education experiences that will train our graduates to be outstanding clinicians, educators and leaders in the field of Emergency Medicine. Our didactic curriculum is structured around case-based discussions and interactive learning activities. Our clinical rotation curriculum is designed to emphasize and provide optimal training in the areas of critical-care and resuscitation.

We are extremely excited to begin interviewing candidates, in the fall of 2012, for positions in our residency program. Additionally, we welcome any student wishing to perform an Emergency Medicine clinical rotation with us in San Antonio. Our residency program is seeking candidates with excellent academic records, strong work ethics, and eagerness to become experts in resuscitation. Ultimately, our ideal candidate is someone who will become part of our family for the next three and beyond.

Please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to speaking with you.
