Taylor D. Hicks MD, FACS, RPVI is Assistant Professor of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and is the Associate Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He was born and raised in San Antonio. After graduating from Tom Clark High School, he enrolled at Baylor University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was named the Outstanding Graduate of his class. He then continued his medical education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Upon finishing medical school he completed his Residency in General Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he served as both Administrative Senior Resident and Administrative Chief Resident. Thereafter he moved back to Texas and completed his Fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in 2011. He is currently board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He entered into private practice in Dallas upon completing his fellowship and served as the Associate Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. He was subsequently recruited to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio to serve the same role and made the move in 2015.
His clinical interests are focused on arterial, venous, and neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, open and endovascular revascularization for lower extremity arterial occlusive disease, and vertebral and carotid artery disease. He has a special interest in resident education and is an active clinical teacher.
