Camaraderie: A spirit of friendly good fellowship, mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together.
There are get-togethers and events of one kind or another throughout the year — Valentine cocktail party, Department of Surgery Spring Picnic, Aust Society Banquet, winter holiday gathering, etc. Some events are strictly for residents, some are for the whole department — they vary. What doesn't change, though, is the comfortable atmosphere of camaraderie among the people.
Intern Orientation Picnic — Welcome and introductory picnic for our new interns, current residents, faculty and GS Residency Education staff and their families – gives everyone a chance to get acquainted with each other in a casual, friendly atmosphere.
Aust Society Banquet — Held during the annual meeting of the J. Bradley Aust Surgical Society in June, the banquet honors our graduating residents, as well as faculty who have a special place in the hearts of the residents.
Annual Department of Surgery Picnic — Usually held in April or May, the Picnic is a department-wide family event, and we encourage everyone to bring the kids and enjoy a day of eating, visiting, games, sports and lots more.
Aust Society Resident / Faculty Holiday Party — Held in early December, this is a semi-formal (tie required for guys) invitation-only affair; cocktails and dinner are included.
Annual Department of Surgery Winter Holiday Gathering — Business casual or, if you feel like dressing up, cocktail attire (your choice!) department-wide cocktail party for faculty, staff and residents to celebrate the holidays. Good food, great conversation, relaxed atmosphere.
Valentine Soirée — Hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Stewart in their home for faculty and residents, as well as the General Surgery Education staff. A chance to dress up a little if you'd like - cocktail attire.
