Biosketch
Dr. Stewart completed his medical degree and residency training at UTHSCSA in 1991. He then completed an additional two years of fellowship training in trauma surgery and critical care before returning in 1993 to establish the Trauma and Emergency Surgery service at University Hospital. He is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Stewart is the Medical Director of the Surgical/Trauma ICU at University Hospital and serves on its Executive Committee as well as numerous other national and regional organizations. His interests include continued development of the regional trauma system in South Texas and the epidemiology of injury.

Biosketch
Dr. Bini completed his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1999. He completed his residency at UTHSCSA in 2004, and will complete a surgical critical care fellowship at UTHSCSA in June, 2009. Dr. Bini is currently a general/Trauma surgeon at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Dr. Bini has deployed twice to Iraq and is the Course Director for the Defense Military Readiness Training Institute's Emergency War Surgery Course. He joined the faculty in the Division of Trauma (part-time) in May, 2009.

Professor

Biosketch
Dr. Cohn received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his residency training at Baylor and Boston University, where he then completed a critical care fellowship in 1987. He joined the faculty at Yale University in 1990 where he served as Chief of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. In 1997 he arrived at the University of Miami to become Chief, Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. While in Miami he also held the offices of Medical Director of the Ryder Trauma Center and Co-Director, US Army Trauma Training Center. Dr. Cohn holds the Witten B. Russ Chair.

Biosketch
Dr. Corneille completed medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1998. After completing residency and critical care training at UTHSC, he joined the faculty in 2004. He is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. His interests include prevention of wound infections and glycemia control in the ICU.

Biosketch
Dr. Dent completed his medical degree at the University of South Florida and his residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis; his residency included an additional year of training in research. He joined the faculty in 1996 and has received numerous teaching excellence awards. Dr. Dent's research focus is in trauma and surgical infection.

Biosketch
Dr. Mueller received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency training at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. After completing a Critical Care Fellowship in 1998 at UT Southwestern, Dr. Mueller joined the faculty at Wilford Hall Medical Center. She has recently retired from the US Air Force, but while at Wilford Hall, Dr. Mueller held the positions of Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Vice Chairman for the Department of General Surgery. Her research interests include blood transfusion, ventilator associated pneumonia, and end-of-life care.

Biosketch
Dr. Myers completed his medical degree and residency training at UTHSCSA in 1999, at which time he joined the faculty in the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Division. He completed a Surgical Critical Care fellowship in 2002 and is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. He serves on numerous committees at University Hospital as well as the Health Science Center. His current interests include trauma diagnostics, outcomes studies, process improvement and protocol development.

Biosketch
Dr. Oh completed his general surgery residency in 2003 at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He then served two years at the 121st General Hospital in Seoul, Korea, and 3 years at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Ft. Hood, TX after graduation. In between, he has been assigned to the 745th Forward Surgical Team, deployed to OEF, and the 102nd Forward Surgical Team, deployed to OIF.

Biosketch
Dr. Pruitt received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1957. He completed his residency at the US Army Surgical Research Unit at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, in 1964. During his tour of duty in Vietnam Dr. Pruitt served as Chief of Professional Services at the 12th Evacuation Hospital and Chief of the Trauma Research Team. He returned to the US to serve as Commander and Director of the BAMC Burn Center for 27 years, after which he retired from the Medical Corps and joined the faculty of UTHSC. He has held the office of President of the American Burn Association, AAST, Surgical Infection Society, North American Burn Society, Halsted Society, Western Surgical Association, International Society for Burn Injuries, American Trauma Society, Southern Surgical Association, and American Surgical Association. He has also served as a member of the American Board of Surgery and the NIH Surgery, Anesthesiology and Trauma Study Section. He has authored and co-authored over 435 published papers, 162 textbook chapters, and 12 books and monographs. Currently he is the Editor of the Journal of Trauma.

Biosketch
Dr. Root completed his undergraduate degree then his medical degree at Cornell Medical School in 1953 and his residency at the University of Minnesota in 1961. He joined the faculty of UTHSC in 1966 and is a founder of the Department of Surgery. His many offices at the University, each held for over 20 years, have included Emergency Center Medical Director, Trauma Director, Chief of Vascular Surgery, Surgical Residency Director and Deputy Surgery Chairman. During his career he has been Governor-at-large from South Texas on the ACS Board of Governors, been a member of the ACS Committee on Trauma Verification Review, and served as President of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He is currently on the editorial board, Journal of Trauma; a national consultant to the ACS Verification Review Committee; and a reviewer for the American Journal of Surgery. He continues to take trauma call and serves as advisor and mentor to students, residents, fellows and faculty. His areas of research interest included angioscopy in vein preparation and repair, vascular problems and endothelial growth factor, trauma injury detection in trauma patients, and blood volume changes in the injured patient.

Biosketch
Dr. Wolf is Director of the Burn Center at Brooke Army Medical Center, the first civilian medical director of this world-renowned burn center. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch/Galveston in 1990 and completed his residency training at the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1995. He completed a research fellowship in trauma and burns as well as a clinical fellowship, both of these at Shriners Hospital for Children/UTMB. His research interests involve the effect of injury on nutrition and muscle metabolism and the prevention and treatment of burn scarring.

Mr. Goodwiler completed Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the Academy of Health Science at Fort Sam Houston in 1992 and his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies through the University of Nebraska 1996. His residency training in Emergency Medicine took place at Brooke Army Medical Center where he eventually became Residency Directory of the United States Army Physician's Assistant Emergency Medicine Residency. He joined the faculty in 2003. His focus is initial resuscitation and acute surgical issues.

Biosketch
Ms. Loquias earned her Master's of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2005, and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Amanda joined the Division of Trauma (full-time) in March of 2009. She serves as a Nurse Practitioner with the resident team providing care to our Pediatric Trauma and Emergency Surgery patients.

Ms. McCollow earned her Master's of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2001, and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Biosketch
Ms. Wilson completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in May of 2007 and is certified as a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. She joined the Division of Trauma in 2007. Ms. Wilson serves as an Advanced Practice Nurse with the Resident team in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit providing care to our Trauma and Emergency Surgery patients.

Mr. Yen completed his PA degree through D'Youville College at Buffalo, New York in 2001. Immediately following graduation, he joined Shriners Hospital for Children/UTMB, with focus in metabolic research, acute care, and plastic reconstructive surgery on burn children. In 2004, Mr. Yen joined the Burn Center at Brooke Army Medical Center/ Institute of surgical research, where he provided acute burn care and plastic reconstruction to wounded soldiers and adult civilians. He joined the trauma division in 2008, where he serves to provide burn care and trauma/emergency care.
